Common Types of Skin Diseases and Treatment Methods

Fungal Skin Disease

• Symptoms: The affected area will form round or oval patches, accompanied by hair loss, and may present with crusting or smooth, red skin. Itching is not significant.
• Treatment Method: Purchase iodine tincture and ketoconazole ointment. Apply twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, for three consecutive days to see improvement.

Bacterial Skin Disease

• Symptoms: Characterized by redness, swelling, purulent discharge, and itching. The dog will feel particularly itchy and often scratch.
• Treatment Method:
  1. Put a collar on it to prevent licking or scratching.
  2. Purchase iodine tincture and erythromycin ointment. Apply twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, and you will definitely see results within three days.

Mange (Caused by Mites)

• Symptoms: Commonly occurs around the mouth, eyes, ears, fingertips, and belly, and may present with large areas of red rash.
• Treatment Method:
  1. Wash the affected area with sulfur soap.
  2. Apply ivermectin drops.
  3. If conditions permit, giving it a medicated bath can enhance the effect.

Pyoderma

• Symptoms: Presence of pustules with a yellowish secretion and a strong, foul odor.
• Treatment Method:
  1. Clean with normal saline.
  2. Apply iodine tincture, followed by a layer of erythromycin ointment.

Canine Eczema

• Symptoms: Commonly seen as small red bumps on the dog’s belly, usually caused by poor living conditions, exposure to cold, or dampness.
• Treatment Method:
  1. Use calamine lotion to relieve itching.
  2. Treat with sulfur ointment.
  3. Improve the living environment, consider caging, and allow the dog to bask in the sun more often.

Note: Generally, within 24 hours of medication, the bumps will begin to scab over, and the dog will gradually recover.
