Common Sugar Glider Illnesses: Rapid Solutions for Colds and Diarrhea

Sugar gliders are indeed very easy to care for animals. As long as they are purchased through formal channels and proper diet and environmental warmth are maintained, they rarely get sick. Generally speaking, the most common issue is catching a cold due to getting chilled. Many novice friends do not do a good job of keeping them warm; with higher temperatures during the day and larger temperature differences at night, they often fail to pay attention, leading to symptoms such as sneezing, poor spirits, cold bodies, and loss of appetite.

If you notice these symptoms, it is essential to first conduct a conditional examination to confirm whether the lungs are affected before proceeding with targeted treatment. If there are no nearby conditions to conduct an examination, you can start by administering a small amount of anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics, observing whether the symptoms can be alleviated, while also paying attention to keeping the body warm.

Another issue is diarrhea. Sugar gliders should not consume foods containing lactose, as doing so can lead to diarrhea. Therefore, the first step is to check if there are any issues with the food, including whether they have eaten chilled foods or consumed a large amount of high-sugar fruits, as these can all potentially cause diarrhea.

If the problem is solely caused by food, then improving the diet will suffice. Additionally, there are a small number of cases caused by getting chilled, in which a small amount of montmorillonite powder can be used, observing whether it can stop the diarrhea.
