My last post unexpectedly went viral. At that time, I said that the best cat in China is the Shandong Linqing Lion Cat, but many people in the comment section disagreed, mentioning the Sichuan Jianzhou Cat, the Tabby Cat, the Orange Cat, the Black Cat, the Domestic Cat, and the Northeast Golden Tabby, among others. Since everyone is so interested, let’s seriously discuss what the best cat in China is. I will start a new series to explore the best cats in China with you, so remember to follow, or you might lose track.

Tenth Place: The Leopard Cat
Speaking of this, some people might argue, isn’t the Leopard Cat from Bangladesh? When did it become Chinese? In fact, the wild Leopard Cat in our country is not the same as the Bengal Leopard Cat. It is also called the Money Cat, Mountain Cat, or Stone Tiger because of its copper coin-like spots. It is larger than the domestic cat, with a body length of over sixty centimeters and a weight of about seven jin (approximately 3.5 kilograms), and it is widely distributed in mainland China as well as the Alishan region of Taiwan Province.
Due to its gorgeous fur, it became a target of hunting in the 1960s and 1970s, with as many as 250,000 Leopard Cat skins hunted and exported annually. In the 1980s, the craze reached a peak with a hunting quota of 1.6 million.
Fortunately, in the past decade, nature reserves have been established in Jiangxi Province, Taiwan Province, and Guangdong Province, and many measures have been taken to protect the wild Leopard Cat, allowing this species to begin breeding again. “No trade, no harm” – do not let human selfishness cause suffering to other species. Respect every life; they all have the right to exist on this blue planet. Respecting life is respecting humanity itself.
