Ninth, the Clouded Cat
Taiwan Province also had Clouded Cats, but they have become extinct. The Clouded Cat resembles the Leopard Cat but is slightly smaller, with a dreamy cloud-like pattern on its back. It inhabits primary or secondary rainforests and prefers to hunt alone at night, being adept at climbing and nimbly navigating through the jungle.
Squirrels, rats, lizards, and frogs are common prey for the Clouded Cat, which is exceptionally rare in the wild. In 2020, with the outbreak of the pandemic, wildlife seemed to have entered a paradise. The Clouded Cat, which had not been seen for over thirty years, was spotted deep in the mountains of Yunnan, leading to the establishment of four nature reserves for the wild Clouded Cat in Yunnan Province, allowing the species to thrive better.
Protecting wildlife is equivalent to protecting ourselves. It is important to note that the cats raised in these two periods should not be considered as domestic pets.
