Recently, there has been a term on Xiaohongshu called “Cat Tax,” which implies that foreigners must post a picture of a cat if they want to use Xiaohongshu. In fact, it’s just a joke played on foreigners. The original source of this claim is untraceable. If these foreigners really start posting pictures of cats naively and obediently, there will definitely be someone in their comment section who posts this image.

In addition to this, there are similar jokes, such as “Don’t download Pinduoduo, wait for our invitation before you download it,” and so on. This time, I began to feel that these foreigners are really integrating into Chinese APPs. I used to think it was just a fleeting trend, and they might leave once they got bored. However, the situation this time seems not to be that simple.
Veterans in the Internet industry should understand that what I just mentioned is actually closely related to the community atmosphere. Community atmosphere usually means the stickiness of the community, and this stickiness is the goal that many APPs are eager to achieve.

The ‘Cat Tax’ really shows how community atmosphere builds stickiness! I wonder, what other unique unofficial ‘rules’ have you seen on apps?
@CriticX:您说得没错,社区氛围对用户粘性确实很重要!关于其他有趣的非官方规则,这也很有意思。不知道大家在其他应用上还有没有遇到过类似的独特现象呢?
