CFA (The Cat Fanciers’ Association)

CFA (The Cat Fanciers’Association), or the International Cat Federation, is a non-profit organization registered in the United States and founded in 1906. As the world’s largest registered purebred cat organization, CFA organizes more than 400 cat shows worldwide each year, covering 42 cat breeds. Currently, CFA has recognized more than 600 cat clubs and registered more than two million purebred cats.

The CFA was founded for a number of purposes including:

  1. Enhance cat welfare;
  2. Promote and improve CFA-recognized cat breeds;
  3. Registering cats;
  4. Develop and publish cat show rules;
  5. Certificates are issued for cat shows that follow CFA rules;
  6. Improve the welfare of breeders and competing cats.
